    For most industrial (goods producing industry) companies, the manufacturing operation is the largest, most complex and the most difficult to manage of the firm. The formation of comprehensive strategic decision making in manufacturing affects and affected by many organizational groups inside and outside the firm. These are mainly business units, other function of the firm, competitors and the various external markets. It can be observed that in developing a methodological for manufacturing strategic decision making, manufacturing has interact with all the managerial functions of the firm: technology, procurement, finance, marketing, etc. Cooperation and consistency of overall objective is the key of success in these interactions. The methodology may use nine strategic categories : facilities, capacity, vertical integration, process technology, product scope and introduction of new product, human resources, quality management, manufacturing organizationand managerial infrastructure and supplier relations. The four performance measures presentedat the outset to address the objective manufacturing strategic decision : cost, delivery, quality and flexibility.     Design of Equipment Rack with TRIZ Method to Reduce Searching Time in Change Over Activity (Case Study : PT. Jans2en Indonesia)

    Janssen is a manufacturing plant that works in furniture assembly. Component shortages often occurs, it will cause the increase of work in process (WIP) in assembly section. In previous studies, we analyze the root causes with FMEA and then it is resulted that router section is the constraint of the system. There are many non value added activities such as searching and transportation caused by a messy condition of work places and the devices that aren’t put in the right place. The impact is that the time allocated for every change over is higher than before. There are many components that are worked by the router section, so improvements are needed to minimize changes in over time. 5S method and the use of a new design of rack by TRIZ method are suggested for fixing the conditions of work environment. It is expected to eliminate non value added activities and changes in over time. Result shows that we can reduce non value activities in change over of regular components up to 41% and the elimination of this time is 41,6%. The non value activities in changeover of new items is 36,6% and this elimination of time is 53,3%. Key word : change over, kaizen, design, TRIZ metho

    PT. PIM is a supplier of raw materials of cement on the PT. Indocement Tbk. During the period 2009 - 2013 PT. PIM only reach a production of 83.66% which is supposed to be the target production by 90%. Performance assessment needs to be done to monitor and evaluate the performance of the operator so that production targets can be achieved. The purpose of this research is to develop the dimensions and indicators of performance assessment, determine the weight of each - each dimensions and indicators with Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and get results with the performance evaluation rating scale. Total weight of each dimension and indicator are, dimension of skill and knowledge with indikator of correctness 0,052; driving skills 0,074; daily maintenance 0,043; versatility 0,028; loading/unloading 0,047; dimension of safety with indicator of awareness of safety 0,172; awareness of human 0,095; awareness of tools 0,052; dimension of productivity with indicator of volume 0,187; motivation 0,094; dimension of attitude with indicator of responsibility 0,042; discipline 0,029; Appearance and PPE 0,036; cooperative 0,025; confident 0,012; and adaptation 0,013. Global weight of each dimention and indicator then used as reference of performance appraisal using rating scale methode.     APPLICATION OF SIX SIGMA DMAIC AND KAIZEN AS A CONTROL METHOD AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PRODUCTS at PT. Sarandi Karya Nugraha. PT. Sarandi Karya Nugraha is a company that engaged in health equipment and produce a hospital furniture, such as emergency trolley. In producing an average production per month, the defective product was 12.84%. This research is used to determine the ability of the process based on product defects that exist with the approach of six sigma then be controlled by analyzing the causes of disability using the Seven Tools and seeking continuous improvement by implementing Kaizen Five-Step Plan, 5W and 1H, and the Five-M checklist. After processing the data, obtained DPMO value of 29043.41 which means that from one million opportunity there will be the possibility of disability product produced as much as 29043.41. The Company is at 3.39-sigma level with CTQ (Critical To Quality) most coarse cause paint defects that 46.5% of the total disability 7490. From the analysis by means of the implementation of kaizen, the main policies that should be run by the companies that tighten controls in all areas

    PT. Glori Industrial II Semarang is one of company that has a garment export market. In the export of goods, the path often used is the sea route by using a cargo or containers. Loading cargo is one of the crucial issues that are often encountered. Selection of suitable containers and how the allocation of product items to be sent will directly affect the cost of shipping. Multicontainer based theories such as bin packing problem, multiple knapsack problem, bin covering, and min-cost covering integer programming, planning will be done on both these issues. In this case study, the proposed method is proposed using binary integer programming as a tool for finding solutions while solving an integer programming formulation using Lingo software assistance. Using 3rd September 2010 shipment data by 20 purchase orders (PO), found that the Container Requirement Planning using the proposed method will result in cost savings of U.S. $ 912.67.     In catfish farming biggest obstacle is the high cost of feed that is 70% of the total cost of production. Under these conditions, it is necessary the development of feed protein source local raw materials are easily available and have the appropriate nutrients in lieu of mill feed. One of the raw materials that can be used as an alternative is a waste of catfish. The rest of the processing waste is produced catfish processing industry. This study aims to find the best combination of artificial feed to gain catfish through a completely randomized design experiments and economic analysis of selected artificial feed. Treatment in the form of a concentration difference waste of catfish plus bran. Treatment I(90% waste +10%bran), treatment II(85% waste +15%bran), treatment III(80% waste +20% bran), treatment IV(75% waste +25% bran). Given feed 2 times a day as much as 5% of total body weight. Tests conducted on catfish 2 month old in a tub at a density of 5 trials tail / tub and 6 replicates for 1.5 months. The results obtained by the combination treatment was chosen III(80%waste +20%bran), with the highest average growth of 39.57 g/fish. Economic analysis of selected artificial feed production capacity of 100 kg/month obtained artificial feed production cost is Rp 2838.33/kg. Feed prices have made the difference between Rp 5,161 to the mill feed is sold at Rp 8,000.00/per kg.     ANALISIS TOTAL PRODUCTIVE MAINTENANCE DENGAN METODE OVERALL EQUIPMENT EFFECTIVENESS PADA LINE CRANKCASE PT. KUBOTA INDONESIA

    PT. Kubota Indonesia, merupakan perusahaan gabungan (joint venture) antara Indonesia dan Jepang, mulai memproduksi mesin diesel penggerak traktor pada tahun 1972., memiliki tujuh line dalam proses produksinya, yakni Line ACF, Line Fly Wheel, Line MBC, Line Gear Case, Line Cyl. Linier, Line Cyl. Head dan Line Crankcase, Salah satu line yang memegang peranan penting justru memiliki tingkat kerusakan mesin tertinggi setiap tahunnya yaitu Line Crankcase. Tingkat kerusakan mesin pada Line Crankcase selama tiga tahun, line ini selalu menduduki peringkat pertama dalam hal kerusakan mesin yang dialami, total sebanyak 350 kali kerusakan. Dengan adanya tingkat kerusakan yang tinggi pada Line Crankcase dan mengakibatkan terjadinya downtime, maka akan dilakukan analisis seberapa efektif suatu operasi produksi yang dijalankan oleh PT. Kubota Indonesia pada saat ini dengan menggunakan metode OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness). Availability dari Line Crankcase adalah 82,35%, Performance Efficiency sebesar 97,20%, Quality Rate sebesar 99,61%. Dari ketiga aspek Availablity, Performance Efficiency dan Quality Rate didapatkan nilai Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) sebesar 79,80%. Nilai OEE ini pencapaian dengan tingkat wajar (fairly typical level) yaitu nilai OEE antara 60% sampai dengan 85% (world class level).     PERANCANGAN 5S UNTUK MEREDUKSI AKTIVITAS NON VALUE ADDED DALAM AKTIVITAS CHANGE OVER (STUDI KASUS PT. JANSSEN INDONESIA)

    Kekurangan komponen yang sering terjadi pada router section mengakibatkan peningkatan WIP pada assembling section.Dari FMEA diperoleh hasil bahwa section router yang menjadi constrain sistem. Hal ini dikarenakan banyak aktivitas searching dan transportasi berlebih dikarenakan kondisi tempat kerja dan peletakan peralatan tidak teratur dan berserakan. Akibatnya waktu change over menjadi lebih tinggi. Dengan jenis komponen yang banyak di section router, perlu tindakan perbaikan untuk meminimasi waktu change over. Penggunaan metode 5S untuk memperbaiki kondisi lingkungan kerja dan rancangan rak peralatan baru dapat mengeliminasi searching time. Hasilnya adalah aktivitas non value added pada change over komponen reguler berkurang 41% dan mengurangi waktu sebesar 41,6%. Pada pembuatan Item baru, aktivitas non value added berkurang 36,6% dan waktunya berkurang 53,3%.Makalah ini memaparkan rancangan 5S di router section PT Janssen Indonesia.
